Fun for adults and children is a totally different issue. Yesterday, I sat for a long time with the kids at a new recreational park, which has just opened this week. The children were so excited - for them it was a whole new world of pleasure. It is not that they have not been to a park before - perhaps it was just because it was new.
We arrived and the kids hardly took a backward glance to see where I was sitting - or even if I was still there! They were just too eager to reach the play park. After a matter of seconds, I could hardly see them - they were lost to my view inside a range of coloured tunnels, funnels and tubes. Hidden from sight, I could hear from their squeals of delight that they were enjoying themselves. They were inside their own little world of adventure, making use of all sorts of ropes, chutes and poles. There were parts created out of various colours and shapes; different pieces that allow twisting, turning, climbing, rotating and swinging. The children were in their element! There were not many others at the park and they could play at any part they wished without waiting. In their games, they became characters out of films or books that they know, such as Tarzan or Mowgli.
Even though it was enough for me after ten minutes, they were having so much fun, that they would have probably been more than happy to stay there all night!
