This is what I wait for all year long. I wait longingly for my summer holiday. It may sound a little strange, but I look at it this way: I work hard all the year through - so at least there might be something there for me at the end of the year! The planning of this annual event usually begins in the early winter. This ensures ample time in which to make suitable arrangements for the perfect summer holiday.
Each time, my mission is to find new ways of having fun. This may entail finding different places to visit - or a different type of holiday. Past successes include a European city holiday such as Florence or Paris, in which visits to museums and galleries are a must. Other variations boast scuba diving at a sea resort. These may be very different in nature but each provides excellent ways of having fun. For each kind of vacation, one needs to be in a different frame of mind and obviously different preparations are needed according to the type of vacation. This is where the time for advance planning becomes useful. This provides enough time to buy, beg, borrow or somehow acquire any necessary equipment. In addition, I like to research about the place about to be visited. Whether this may be in guide books or on the Internet, I prefer to read up all about the area before travelling. One may gather important information such as details regarding local culture, climate, clothing required and recommendations regarding places or sites that are well worth visiting.
